You know how some people’s facial expressions ALWAYS give away what they’re thinking?

This poor boy was clearly having quite a day, by the disturbed facial expressions. But it  was also a day that could have been his last. As a stray, this ginger with the menacing pout, faced dangers everyday.

On October 15th 2018, he was brought into the RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital after being found on the London streets.

Saul was spotted wandering in the rain, clearly injured, on Peckham High St. with the sour puss facial expression.

The man who saw him knew he needed to get him medical attention ASAP. Calling the local RSPCA, an animal control officer was dispatched and was able to catch him. They found no microchip on the boy.

In a press release, Caroline Allen, London veterinary director for the RSPCA, speculated on his injuries.

“He was in a very sorry state … and had discharge coming from his eyes and nose and looked very poorly indeed.”

“We believe he was involved in a road traffic accident as we found he had injured his jaw, teeth and one eye.”

Saul was quickly treated for his traumas and infections.

But through the healing process, no matter how much better he felt, Saul’s facial expressions never showed it.

In fact, he looks entirely put off and irritated at the situation.

“He’s had to have his jaw wired so it’s no surprise he’s a little grumpy,” says Allen.

Although, this just made the staff and caregivers want to cuddle him even more!

They can’t be sure if his adorable little face was always this expressive or if it is a result of the trauma.

The best part is that he actually is very loving and sweet, regardless of what his facial feature portrays.

Caroline added this in the recent press release.

“Despite his constant scowl, Saul’s actually really sweet and friendly.”

“He’s recovering really well from his injuries and we hope he will soon be ready to move to our cattery at Southall to find a new home as we don’t rehome directly from the hospital.”

“We’re sure someone will fall in love with this glum-looking puss! In fact, we think he could be a bit of a star. We’re sure he’d give Grumpy Cat a run for his money – that’s why we’re affectionately nicknaming him Grumpy Cat 2.0!”

Saul’s sweet puss face has quickly gained him a slew of fans across the world.

On the animal hospital’s Facebook page, they laughingly shared Saul’s new duties during his recovery.

“This is Saul ? and he’s decided that he’s the door security for Cat Ward. If your name’s not down – he’s not letting you in. He’s got a little clipboard and everything. ???‍?”

“He is being very spoiled at the hospital though, (in between security duties), and is recovering well from his injuries – well enough to be back on door duty tomorrow. ??‍♂️???”

But the hospital are sure to ask interested parties for their understanding in not contacting them directly about the fast growing “celebricat.”

“We do ask that you please don’t call us at the hospital about Saul as we need the lines clear for emergency calls to help more animals like him.”
